It’s all down to this, a spot in European football’s biggest stage and after England dared to dream of a Premier League Derby, their two remaining combatants are staring elimination in the face.
Liverpool is down 3-0 to Barcelona as they host them at Anfield, while Tottenham needs to turn around a 1-0 deficit in Amsterdam against everyone’s new favourite team Ajax.

If you’ve got a mate who supports Liverpool, you’ve no doubt heard about that miraculous night in Istanbul when the Reds came back from 3-0 down to win the title on penalties. Well they have 90 minutes here to produce a similar comeback and they will have to do a better job containing the best player remaining in the competition, Leo Messi. He made Virgil van Dijk and company look ridiculous there and if he exerts a similar influence over this game, it’s over. The problem for Liverpool here is they can’t just sit back and hope for the best, they need to go on the attack but Barca’s forward line is just so good. Both teams should find the scoresheet and you could see either side winning on the night so we’ll just play it a bit safe and take over 3.5 goals and stay away from a result.
Spurs welcome back Son after his suspension cost him the first leg and they’ll need to win on the night to go through. One problem, Ajax don’t really lose at home, in fact the only team to win away was Real Madrid who are a much better side than this Spurs team. I just can’t see Ajax being kept off the scoresheet and as desperation creeps into this Tottenham side, they might leave themselves open to concede a few against a team that won’t stop working.
