Slatey Bay makes his racing debut here at Parkes in the first and I liked what I saw in a recent barrier trial heading into this.
He found the line quite well and if he can overcome a tricky gate, he can run a cheeky race at double figure odds.
The Iceman got a little lost working his way down the straight last start however he stuck on to his task to run third.
He is a very consistent horse at this level and with even luck he should be right in the finish in a race of this quality.
I swear this isn’t an omen bet however if you are struggling for a Mother’s Day present why not chuck a tenner on this for mum!
Mum’s The Word bolted in last start at Narromine over the short course and has been there abouts for most of this prep.
Can win again.
They tried to stretch Ori On Fire out to the 1400m of the Country Championships but the horse simply didn’t handle it.
He is much better suited over the 1200m and he will appreciate a step down in class in a race like this.
He’s drawn well and can figure prominently.
