Fighting Faith was unlucky not to break her maiden first-up this time, but it primed to win the first at Ballarat this afternoon. The Fighting Sun filly finished on the winner’s heels at Kembla Grange on debut before returning to the paddock, and she returned from a long break at Echuca two weeks ago. She won’t be offered a better opportunity to win.
The Crimson Idol has continued to improve with racing and looks well placed to break her maiden at Taree this afternoon. The three-year-old daughter of Hinchinbrook raced greenly, but still hit the line well for fourth at Newcastle on debut last month and has placed in two subsequent starts, including a second here at Taree last time out. With even luck today, she’ll take beating.
Evergreen veteran Clunes Rocket has returned a number of typically smart efforts this time and strikes a winnable one at a price this afternoon ($10 at publish). The nine-year-old hit the line for a close-up second over a mile here in March and has returned four competitive performances since. He’s rock-hard fit and has options from the rails draw.
Akamin’s fresh form is excellent and he can return a winner in the sixth at Taree this afternoon. The seven-year-old has typically kept his best performances for Taree in recent seasons and he stormed home as a $51 pop to just miss here last time in. He’s another horse that has options from barrier 1 today and there doesn’t appear to be any stars in this field. ($7 at publish).
