Battle Fury has continued to improve with racing this time and strikes a winnable one at Albury this afternoon. The Smart Missile gelding clearly needed the run when he tailed off at Wagga first-up, but he responded with a big run to finish a half-length third at Albury second-up before another tough effort over a mile at Wagga last time. He’s ready to do something fourth-up and won’t be offered a better opportunity to win.
Toolbar will carry winning form into the fourth at Albury today and looks well placed to make it two in a row. The Barbados gelding worked home well when finally offered clear running at Gundagai first-up but went forward at Kyneton last time out – a decision that clearly paid dividends when he powered away to score by nearly six lengths. He retains claiming apprentice Alana Kelly this afternoon and can repeat his on-pace tactics from barrier 4.
The Doctor’s Son will return from a let-up at Albury today and will be hard to beat. The four-year-old has only had three career starts so far but broke his maiden in impressive fashion in February before finishing fifth in a tougher race here at Albury last time out. The form out of that race has been excellent and the horse does look to have an advantage over today’s rivals.
Olifants hasn’t been seen at the races since January, but he returned several pleasing efforts last time out and can make a winning return at a price at Albury today ($10 at publish). The former Godolphin galloper generally raced in tougher company than this last time in and was last seen winning over 1200m at Queanbeyan. He’s drawn well in gate 5 and is up to winning.
