With the retirement of Greg Inglis from Rugby League, it’s not only sad to see a legend of the game call it day it’s also left Kevin Walters wondering just who will skipper the Maroons in this years Origin series.
Enter Daly Cherry-Evans.
That’s right Daly-Cherry Evans.
You know, the man Queenslanders booed when he played at NRL club grounds because he didn’t want to join the Neds Gold Coast Titans back in the day?
Look’s like he’s top of the list to lead Queensland now.
He wasn’t even in the squad last year.
The Maroons will now be missing Inglis, Billy Slater, Cameron Smith, Jonathan Thurston and Cooper Cronk who have either retired from representative Rugby League or the game altogether.
Walters has named three possibilities for the job including Michael Morgan, Jake Friend and of course, Cherry Evans.
The first Origin game is on June 5.

US president Donald Trump has announced he’ll award Tiger Woods the Presidential Medal of Freedom as a result of Woods winning his fifth Masters title.
Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on the great victory he had in yesterday’s @TheMasters, & to inform him that because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE, I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 15, 2019
Trump himself loves Golf, he owns a few courses, but during his presidential campaign in 2016, he declared he’d spend less time on the Golf course.
But Donald Trump has found time to play plenty of Golf since taking office in the White House.
No doubt he’ll fan-boy it up when Tiger comes to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Dave Warner could be dropped as World Cup opener for Australia as skipper Aaron Finch considers a break up of the partnership that got the Aussies home in 2015.
The Herald Sun is reporting that Finch is almost certain to open but instead would walk out with Usman Khawaja as a result of Australia’s successful series against India and Pakistan just recently.

Carlton’s coach Brendon Bolton has the full support of the board.
You’d think that’s a curse but Carlton is happy to double down on backing its coach after a poor start to the season and a heartbreaking loss to the Gold Coast Suns on the weekend.
Speaking on Channel 9’s Footy Classified last night, panellist and football director Chris Judd backed the Blues coach.
“I’m fully expecting that Brendon will be the coach at the end of this year and into the future,”
These quotes have never, ever come back to haunt a Football coach before.
