This is the toughest task of Amangiri’s short racing career so far, but she mas more than stamped herself as a filly to follow and looks up to winning a race of the Adrian Knox Stakes’ standard. The daughter of All Too Hard hit the line well to finish second on the Kensington course here at Randwick on debut in February and has since recorded two dominant wins, including a six-length triumph over a mile and on heavy going last time out. She’s only improve into this race and looks hard to beat.
Kiwi raider Madison County has been a strong and consistent performer for Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman and looks over to odds to win the Australian Derby this afternoon ($11 at publish). The Pins gelding recorded consecutive Group 1 wins in New Zealand during summer has shown great ability since arriving in Australia; finishing fourth in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas and second in the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes; the latter an outstanding form reference for this race in season gone by. The step up to a mile and a half looks ideal and he races well on a rain-affected track.
Osborne Bulls has been on the cuff of a Group 1 win all season and is a serious chance of winning the TJ this afternoon. The son of Exceed And Excel resumed this time for an agonizingly-close second behind In Her Time in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes, before flying home late to finish third in the Group 1 Newmarket this time out. His massive performance for third in The Everest last year suggested that he handles a soft track and he’s drawn beautifully today with Hugh Bowman aboard.
It’s Weetwood Handicap Day at Toowoomba and I’m confident that the ever-dangerous Tyzone will run a big race in the feature. The Written Tycoon gelding has continued to improve with racing this time and has put together two impressive wins at his two most-recent appearances, which included another Listed race in the form of the Goldmarket two weeks ago. He’s rock hard fit and while he will need some luck from a potentially stick barrier, I’m happy to be with his class.
