From the opening of the brand-spanking new Stadium in Western Sydney, the fall of the Bronco empire and the epic Grand Final rematch – NRL Round six had it all!
There was plenty to talk about as Around The Tweets takes in the best of Twitter from a big Easter weekend of Rugby League.
Eels 51 def. Tigers 6
Parramatta opened Bankwest Stadium in style thrashing by their “co-tenant” the Wests Tigers.
There was a lot of love for their shiny new digs.
Is there a bad seat in the house? @TheParraEels @bankweststadium #NRLEelsTigers I think not…… pic.twitter.com/N56duUj8pO

She was a rough day for Anthony the Blue Wiggle. (Why is he still a Wiggle when all the other originals have left?)

But you get the feeling Bankwest Stadium is going to be a hit with everyone concerned.
Incredible! Thank you to the amazing crowd of 29,047 who turned up for the first sporting event at #BankwestStadium! #NRLEelsTigers #ForTheFans pic.twitter.com/wL7rMjySJc

Even the media can’t get enough of the coconut water in the press box.
For those who are still questioning whether BankWest is a quantum leap for stadiums in Australia, they have coconut water in the press box #NRLEelsTigers pic.twitter.com/hl6RpQeP20

SUNDAY ARVO:
Raiders 26 def. Broncos 22
The Broncos had their chance to come back but the Raiders got the job done.
To commemorate, we present to you another edition of Brisbane Broncos fans getting furious on Twitter.
Seibs coaches “effort” pfft fuck off mate. God I have had an absolute gutful. And there any danger of him showing a shred of being pissed off in the press conference? So fkn passive 😑
— Mike Jacovou (@mikejacovou7) April 21, 2019
Honest question. Do the Broncos train? #NRLRaidersBroncos

— Eden Richards (@Eden_Richards) April 21, 2019
A highlight will be Seibold making some hard decisions this week.
— John Ford (@jackp1976) April 21, 2019
Can’t fathom how a teams defensive effort can fall away so badly under a new coaching regime. Piss weak and embarrassing. #NRLRaidersBroncos

SUNDAY ARVO:
Titans 38 def. Knights 14
HOW ABOUT THOSE MIGHTY NEDS GOLD COAST TITANS!?! TWO IN A ROW AND ONWARDS TO THE PROMISED LAND THAT’S WHAT.
Playing on Easter Sunday is always a tough task…just ask Vossy.
Quite an observation.
— Andrew Voss (@AndrewVossy) April 21, 2019
I’d happily chip in to make it happen.

SATURDAY NIGHT
Dragons 12 def. Manly 10
Questionable use of the Bunker, questionable referring – a perfect Twitter storm for Rugby League fans during the Red V’s thrilling win over the Sea Eagles on Saturday night.
Ahh, how as that Brad Parker trip allowed to even be looked at by the Bunker?
I'm not sure the referees were allowed to send that Brad Parker trip to the Bunker…#NRLDragonsManly pic.twitter.com/zAygpRTQnl
— Jason Oliver (@JasonNRL) April 20, 2019
Bunker Banter ruled Twitter during this match. It wasn’t the first time and I get the feeling, it won’t be the last.
How did they go to the video ref to check the alleged Parker trip? It was never going to be a try or a penalty try. That’s misuse of the @NRLBunker. And then to not go to the Bunker for the penalty at the end of the game is disgraceful. Inexcusable! #NRLDragonsManly
— Craig (@therealist131) April 20, 2019
If only you could listen to big Des having a little chat to the refs.

SATURDAY ARVO
Warriors 10 def by. Cowboys 17
In his 200th game, Josh McGuire and Micheal Morgan got a much-needed win for the Cowboys on the road in New Zealand.
The Cowboys needed this win. Really needed it.

Not the best night for the NZ Warriors, a tipsters nightmare.
If the NZ Warriors were a tradie they'd be on A Current Affair exposed for being useless. #NRLWarriorsCowboys

Thoughts with Veronica’s boyfriend in this testing time of their relationship.
The Cowboys won which makes me happy…

FRIDAY NIGHT:
Storm 20 def.by Roosters 21
What a game this turned out to be! The Roosters looked like they were going to hand out a serious thrashing to the Storm at half-time but Cameron Smith and friends-led an epic comeback, resulting in Golden Point.
A field goal from Latrell Mitchell got the job done in a memorable game of Rugby League and there was plenty for Twitter to tweet about.
What an ordinary bloke Cooper Cronk is. Am I right?
Hey @storm fans, just to clarify.. Cooper Cronk uprooting his life in Melbourne after 15 seasons and 2 premierships for your club to move to Sydney to support his wife’s media career but still playing @nrl because he still had the drive was a dick move?! #NRLStormRoosters
— StrawbCast (@StrawbCast) April 19, 2019
Conspiracy theories are in full flight from this INXS fan account. This could tear Rugby League apart if true!
#NRLStormRoosters Can you believe that crap tonight? 2 blatant forward passes in the corner for a storm try. Same attack again by chooks in same corner, and lo and behold, a forward pass! 4 officials on the ground and they all need to go to Specsavers. Or do I smell corruption?
— inxs52 🇭🇲 (@inxs52) April 19, 2019
On a positive note, it was a pretty bloody good win for the Easts boys.
I've seen a lot of awful roosters performances
I've seen a lot of good performances
I've seen a few incredible performances
That might just about be the best. Certainly in the grand final for guts and determination. #NRLStormRoosters

This idea could prove a hit.
Here's a suggestion for the #NRL fixture going forward, guaranteed ratings winner.

GOOD FRIDAY ARVO
Bulldogs 6 def by. Souths 14
The Bunnies grinded out a solid win over the Doggies at ANZ on Good Friday.
Old mate clearly not a fan of Braith’s work.
Little known fact:
Braith Anasta commentating on Good Friday is the reason Jesus went along with the crucifixion.#NRLBulldogsSouths

Not much love for referee Henry Perenara either

As someone who also likes AFL, I can tell you, you’re in for a surprise when it comes to umpiring.
Just want to say refereeing of Souths v Dogs and Cronulla v Penrith this week has been the worst I have ever seen in past 25 yrs of being an NRL Club Member. #NRLSharksPanthers #NRLBulldogsSouths No wonder people in NSW are flocking in droves to the AFL.

THURSDAY NIGHT
Sharks 24 def. Panthers 20
It was an epic comeback for Cronulla as they came back from 20-6 down to win 24-20.
Full respect to this Panthers fan’s hair-do
