Around the Tweets – NRL Round 5

Around the Tweets – NRL Round 5

Another round of the NRL has come and gone and people took to Twitter with their reasoned, rational and understanding takes from this weekend’s matches.

We’ve compiled the best of them in another edition of “Around the Tweets”ย

SUNDAY NIGHT:
Raiders 19 def. Eels 0

The Eels had a shocking night but the talk on Twitter was all about Blake Ferguson’s broken nose.

There ya go, good as new.

On a positive note, FOX League commentator Warren Smith sung the praises of Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad

SUNDAY ARVO:
Dragons 40 def. Bulldogs 4

A horrible day out for the Doggies and Twitter didn’t hold back in letting them know about it.

Even the Daily Telegraph got stuck in.

Hot take out of the match from Dean Pay.

SATURDAY NIGHT:
Sharks 16 def. by Roosters 30

Led by Latrell Mitchell, the Roosters showed why they rule the comp and why he is the best centre in the game as they carved up a solid win over the Sharks on Saturday night.

It’s Round 5 and the Origin selection chatter is in full swing.

Dunno mate, but they are playing the Storm away on Friday night. Perhaps they’ll beat the Roosters…but yeah, it’s probably in the bag.ย

If you’re looking for biting satire and razor-sharp comedy, look no further than twitter dot com

And this from Latrell was pretty damn good.

SATURDAY TWILIGHT
Knights 17 def. by Sea Eagles 26

The Knights are still looking rather mediocre as they went down to Des’s Manly on Saturday night.

Praise for commentators on Twitter is rare, but there was a bit of love for Dan Ginnane on FOX League making the transition from Triple M.

Yeah, nah, not much love for the Knights.

Miners and council workers deserve better.

Yet again, Warren Smith talks truth and common sense, mate, what are you doing on Twitter?

Meanwhile, at Manly, everyone’s cancelling their September holiday plans.

SATURDAY ARVOย

Souths 28 def. Warriors 24

The NRL came to the Sunshine Coast and Cody Walker got the Bunnies home with four tries, including two in the final seven minutes of the game to get the win for South Sydney.

We could put a heap of Tweets up from the match, but nothing can top this effort from South Sydney’s social team.

FRIDAY NIGHT
Cowboys 12 def by. Storm 18

The story of the night was Cameron Smith breaking Hazem El-Masri to become the all-time NRL points scorer.ย

It even made the news…in Melbourne!

Sure, there were plenty of Tweets bagging him…but old mate here puts things into perspective.

Even Paul Gallen is on board!

FRIDAY TWILIGHT
Neds Gold Coast Titans 30 def. Panthers 24ย

HOW ABOUT THOSE MIGHTY NEDS GOLD COAST TITANS?ย
The first win for season 2019 and the path to a premiership begins now.

The fair and balanced tweeting from our very own social accounts was there for all to see.ย

You’re right Buzz, it was outstanding.

Huge if true.ย

But enough about the Panthers. Let’s focus on those mighty Titans. HOW BLOODY GOOD WERE THEY!?!? Here are the boys up and about in the rooms after the game.ย

THURSDAY NIGHT
Broncos 16 def.by Tigers 22ย

As to be expected, the pile on for the Broncos was savage.

But this won the night on Twitter and it had nothing to do with a Broncos pile on
