2019 Doncaster Mile Tips

One of the best races on the Australian racing calendar will be run and won at one of the best tracks at Australian racing’s disposal on Saturday, and when markets opened on Tuesday morning we were faced with a very tasty $6.50 the field.

The Doncaster Mile always draws a capacity field and there is legitimately a case to be made for all but about five horses in the market, confirmed or emergency.

It’s absolutely no mean feat this week and if you land on the right horse, you’re in for a huge day. 2019 Doncaster Mile tips can be found below.

Doncaster Mile - Winner
No. 1 Hartnell

He’ll need to carry topweight, but he did effectively to win the Epsom Handicap in spring and I don’t think there’s a more trustworthy horse in the Doncaster Mile field than Hartnell. The Authorized gelding has been a strong and consistent performer in each of his preparations since in arriving in Australia in 2015 and has recorded plenty of impressive wins at the highest level. His run for second in the All-Star Mile last time out was massive and he’s rock-hard fit for this fourth-up assignment. He’s drawn beautifully with Hughie aboard and that is more than enough evidence for me to take the $8.50 that is on offer at publish.

Doncaster Mile - 2nd
No. 3 Alizee

Probably the best horse in the field currently but I still there that there are a couple of question marks over Alizee’s ability to win the 2019 Doncaster Mile. Her first three runs this time, all impressive wins that included another Group 1 crown were excellent and she has beaten some of country’s best horses with relative ease. She was given an absolute peach by Hugh Bowman in the All-Star Mile and could only make up enough ground to finish third, however and in open company on what will probably be a heavy track this weekend could prove to be a big cross. Class does suggest she’ll still be in the finish.

Doncaster Mile - 3rd
No. 2 Le Romain

Warhorse Le Romain has drawn a potentially sticky barrier (16) for his run in the Donny, but he’s another horse that just makes everything work and he’s ready to peak fourth-up with in-form hoop James McDonald aboard. A multiple Group 1 winner at the trip, Le Romain typically goes well on a soft track and the $21 that he’s currently displaying in Doncaster Mile betting could prove to be the best each-way quote of the entire carnival.

Doncaster Mile - 4th
No. 6 Dixie Blossoms

I’m happy to be with a lot of the horses with proven ability and experience in high pressure races like this one, so obviously Dixie Blossoms demands consideration. The Street Sense mare has been a fan favourite for Ron Quinton for many seasons now and broke through for her first, well-deserved Group 1 win in the Coolmore Classic a fortnight ago. After going so close so many times throughout her impressive career, how good would it be to see this mare go bang-bang on her way to the breeding barn!?
