The Coolmore Legacy Stakes, or Queen Of The Turf and its more widely and enjoyably known has drawn an outstanding field of fillies and mares and when the market opened on Wednesday, we were faced with $6 the field.
Typical that this is the final Group 1 of the day. If you’ve had a tough time of it in the races before, don’t worry! It gets even harder here. Deary me.
I’ve had a go – you can find our 2019 Coolmore Legacy Tips below.
Group 1 winner Prompt Response has returned two typically pleasing efforts this time and looks over the odds at her current quote in Coolmore Legacy betting ($14 at publish). The Beneteau mare worked home well for third in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes first-up before another good effort to finish fourth behind Winx in the Group 1 George Ryder. She’s drawn an absolute dream and will be ridden by Blake Shinn. I’m expecting more improvement third-up and this looks the perfect race for her.
The brave mare was at it again when she finished off well for sixth in the Doncaster and this will potentially be the final time that we see her step out. Dixie Blossoms has been a strong and consistent performer throughout her entire racing career and stormed home to record her first, well-deserved Group 1 win in the Coolmore Classic two starts back. She probably would have finished even closer if she got out earlier last weekend and we know that she handles tracks of all integrities. Just a little bit of luck in running and there’s no doubt she has the means to fight out the finish.
Unforgotten is far better on top of the ground but her class could carry her a long way in the Coolmore Legacy. The Fastnet Rock mare won the Oaks on this card last year and has continued to produce high-quality performances, which included a win in Group 2 company at this track and distance. She’ll spot them a start from the wide barrier but with luck in the straight, can finish off well.
I’m wondering if Alizee has come to the end of her prep, but she’s another horse that will appreciate a return to fillies and mares company and she has a genuine class edge over the majority of her rivals here. A three-time Group 1 winner, Alizee began her campaign with three-consecutive wins before running through the field to finish third in the All-Star Mile. She returned a lacklustre effort in the Donny last week, but happy to forgive that.
