It’s set for a cracking night of racing at The Valley for William Reid Stakes night and we have done the hard work for punters that are looking to have a sneaky bet.

Sunset Watch makes his own luck right on the speed which can be a big advantage around the tight turn at The Valley. He has had two goes at the track for a win and second and I think he is better suited at the 1200m.
Andrassy Avenue hasn’t had it all her way so far in her short career but she is clearly a talented filly. When she stepped out at the Valley at her second race start she recorded an easy win and she should get a lovely run in transit from barrier four.
Testifier is a smart gelding by Star Witness who is yet to be beaten in two race starts to date. He looks a professional and well put together young horse and he should be able to sit just in behind the leaders in this. He is a winner at the track and distance so he’s been here and done that.
I think Ayers Rock can run a cheeky race at nice odds in this. The six year old Nicconi gelding has drawn well and has early gate which can be used to his advantage. This is about his grade of racing however if he can steal some cheap sectionals he can put himself in the race and he is a fighter right to the line.
The 955m at The Valley seems perfect for Desert Lashes and she will get another chance at it here after being narrowly denied by Ashlor last time out. She is a consistent mare having won nine of 18 race starts and running second on a further four occasions. She can cross over from the wide barrier to take up the lead and give them something to chase.
Angelic Ruler was climbing all over Victory Kingdom in the Kewney however she has drawn poorly here and will have all the work to do again rounded the sharp Valley turn. I’m happy to be on Victory Kingdom as she can make her own luck on the speed from a good draw. She has a quick sprint at the end of her races and she can get some black type in a race that seems well suited for her.
Spright was dropped back in grade last start at Randwick for an ‘easy kill’ however she was ridden to close to the speed but I thought she sprinted home well to only just miss. She is a mare that is ridden cold and with a fast pace on up front, she can have the last shot at them. Her only two goes at The Valley resulted in a 3rd in the Group 1 Moir Stakes and a 4th in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes beaten under a length. Give her strength! I thought Embrace Me was over the odds also.
It was frustrating to watch the way Spanish Reef was ridden in her first two races this prep. She was finally ridden on the speed and let roll along last start and it paid dividends with a much deserved win. She showed a lot of fight that day and she looks very well placed to make it back to back wins in a race like this. She will make her own luck right on the speed and has drawn well. Meets Naantali 4.5kg better for beating her last start.
