Western Bulldogs club president Peter Gordon has spoken to the Herald-Sun this morning basically telling it like it is on some of the pressing issues facing the AFL.
On issues such as giving Tassie a team Gordon told the paper, “I believe they are entitled to their own team.”
“…And I think it’s a matter that ought to be legitimately canvassed by a future AFL commission.”
When talking about AFLX Gordon didn’t hold back “I do not understand why AFLX is continued to be permitted to compete with — and even overshadow — the fantastic, fledgling women’s competition that we’ve got.”
Peter Gordon rates Gillon McLachlan ahead of his predecessors, but isn’t rapt with all the League’s recent decisions.

The Bulldogs president also spoke about the club losing its “traditional” Good Friday timeslot against North Melbourne (that was only played once) “Good Friday was a virgin opportunity to create a blockbuster marquee opportunity and it has been completely squandered for no rational reason at all.”
The man talks sense but it bemuses anyone how he would have approved this jumper.
The Western Bulldogs will wear a Thor-inspired Round 1 jumper against Sydney.

After his confronting and raw interview with his brother Matty, Andrew Johns does not blame the Newcastle Knights or the game of Rugby League for his current struggle with epilepsy.
In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald Johns said “I was looked after better than anyone at Newcastle,”
‘They think maybe a contributor could be some of the concussions’ https://t.co/y71T2H0iQr

“[They] treated me like their son. [They] went above and beyond. I had full trust in them and still have full trust in them. The connection between epilepsy and concussion, they don’t know for sure if it’s 100 per cent. It may have contributed but they don’t know for sure. I suffered concussions 20 years ago. We didn’t know the damage being done then.”
This not the first Rugby League immortal to deal with brain damage/epilepsy.
Wally Lewis also suffers from the condition and has been giving guidance to Johns in recent months.
In recent years, Rugby League has worked towards making some significant changes to concussion processes.
Doctors are calling for substitutes to be allowed for concussed players and independent doctors to be on the sidelines, as is the protocol for Origin matches.
Clubs are now required to have two doctors at games and independent spotters in the crowd to monitor the players who may be suffering from head trauma.
Some exciting news about…us!
We here at Neds are stoked to announce that we’ve joined the Brisbane Lions as their new co-major sponsor for AFL season 2019.
The partnership will see the Neds brand feature on the front of the Lions’ home guernsey and the back of their away guernseys throughout the season.
Brisbane Lions CEO Greg Swann said the decision by Neds to support the Club on such short notice was a testament to the path the Club is currently on.

“We are so excited to welcome Neds to the Club,” Swann said.
“To be able to find a new co-major partner in less than two weeks speaks to the positivity around the Club at the moment. All of our key off-field markers are up year on year, and we are so pleased that Neds wanted to be a part of that journey in 2019.
“We can’t wait to see Neds on the jumper Saturday as we open the season against the reigning premiers at the Gabba.”
Jason Scott, Neds CEO, echoed Swann’s sentiments.
“To be joining the pride at a time where the direction of the club both on and off field is clear and strong is very exciting for us,” Neds Chief Executive Jason Scott said.
“There is some great symmetry between this Lions team and the Neds brand in that they are both growing and going somewhere so, for us, it is an incredibly good fit”
“As a Brisbane based company we are always keen to get involved at a local level and the Lions are our local side on the national stage and we are sure they will do themselves, NEDS, Brisbane and Queensland proud this season.
