WE'RE BACK BABY!!!

It’s been two years in the doldrums and a year for hell for Australian Cricket but that all changed last night after Australia beat India to claim the best of five ODI series!

For those of you who stayed up to watch it until the end, kudos to you!

Australia was 2-0 down early on in the series but the Aussies completed their epic comeback mostly thanks to a classy century from Usman Khawaja.

As a result of last night’s epic triumph, Australia has now registered their first ODI series win since January 2017.

It is also our first ODI series win in India since 2009 and the first time the Aussies have gone on to win after trailing 2-0 in a five-game series.

The Aussies elected to bat first, posting a total of 9/272 after 50 overs.

It was always going to be hard for India to come back with the pitch at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla being notorious for low scores.

Australia just beat one of the favourites for the upcoming World Cup on their turf, Smith and Warner are due back next week and everything is just looking hunky dory.

You can currently get $6 for Australia to go back-to-back.

NRL IS BACK...BABY!

With the NRL’s pre-season tournament the Magistrates Court Cup wrapping up for another summer, the actual game of Rugby League returns tonight with the Melbourne Storm hosting the Brisbane Broncos under their new coach Anthony Seibold.

Seibold, who was at Souths last season swapped jobs with Wayne Bennett at the Broncos is what was a seamless transition and handled in an utterly professional matter.

Rugby League media, particularly in Queensland, is full of reports on how the Broncos have been training the house down, players have never been fitter than ever, Seibold bringing a positive vibe to Red Hill, the feeling is that they are on the way to their first premiership since 2006.

Melbourne Storm meanwhile, are still calling on the NRL to return their 2007 and 2009 premierships because there seems to be one rule for the NSW clubs and one rule for those in Victoria.

Ahh, Rugby League – it’s good to have you back.

NON-EURO NATION DOMINATES UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

In a result that surprised absolutely nobody, Barcelona beat Lyon to get through to the Champions League Quarter Finals this morning.

The 5-1 score flattered the Catalan side who only really put the game away in the final quarter of an hour. Over in Germany Liverpool shocked a flat and uninspired Bayern Munich side.

That means there are four English sides in the final eight of Europe’s biggest club competition.

All throughout June and July of last year, we heard the English fans sing “it’s coming home!” Well, perhaps they meant the Champions League is coming “home”?

Not bad for a country that’s about to leave Europe.
