It’s pretty much a fact of life that Melbourne Storm always wins in Round One.
The Storm’s season-opening streak continued last night defeating the Brisbane Broncos 22-12 in the NRL season opener at AAMI Park.

The win takes Storm’s amazing Round 1 record to 17 on the trot, with the streak starting when Craig Bellamy started as coach in 2003.
Melbourne dominated in the first half and it looked like the Storm was ready to inflict some pain on the Broncos under their new coach Anthony Siebold, with Storm leading 10-0 at the main break.
As the second half got underway, Broncos winger Corey Oates managed to have a spell scoring two tries within two minutes and it looked like we had a game on our hands.
The likes of Kenneth Bromwich and Jahrome Hughes (AKA – Billy Slaters replacement) managed to get a couple of quick tries and the Storm was home.
Broncos fans were also furious at the efforts in Jack Birds return game and took to social media to complain about it.
This is the first time fans have used a social media platform to bag out a Footballer.
Matt Lodge also appears to be playing on a tight budget this season, given his cheap shot on Cameron Munster in the first few minutes of the game.
Oooof, an early error from Matt Lodge. 😬
“You can’t do that!”

Round 1 of the NRL continues tonight with the Knights hosting the Sharks and the reigning premiers the Sydney Roosters hosting Souths under new coach Wayne Bennett at the SCG.
No one does staying in the headlines in the off-season to distract people from other sports quite like the AFL.
This happens every year.
Whether its drip feeding the fixture before it’s released in full, speculating about trades long before any deal is done, best of three Grand Final series, changing the rules – and of course should the timeslot of the AFL Grand Final be changed to a Twilight event to improve “the spectacle”.
They teased us all with it and we’re all suckers for it.
The chairman of the AFL Commission Richard Goyder told us all to “give it a go”, AFL HQ Sympathizers like Gerard Whateley called on it to be done, Robbo wrote his annual “the AFL don’t listen to fans” column.
We all got worked up about it and then….
Gillon McLachlan at the AFL Season launch announces nothing will change in 2019.
The Grand Final will be played at 2:30 pm on the last Saturday in September at the MCG.
