Sandown: Race 1 (2:45pm AEDT)
No. 1 Angel Rock

Angel Rock has shown plenty of promise in her two career starts so far and looks well placed to break her maiden at Sandown this afternoon. The daughter of Rock Hero finished within two lengths of the winner at Listed level on debut in March, before savaging the line to again finish fourth at Morphettville last time out. She can settle closer to the pace from the rails draw today and the booking of in-form hoop Jamie Kah to ride is also a big bonus. There are a few debutants in this field but on exposed ability, she does look the one to beat.

Warwick Farm: Race 5 (3:25pm AEDT)
No. 1 Plymouth Road

Plymouth Road is unplaced in all four runs this preparation, but he absolutely flies on a heavy track and will finally have conditions to suit at Warwick Farm today. The Tavistock gelding won a 2400m race three starts into his last preparation on the heavy going and is reportedly rock-hard fit for today’s appearance. He can go straight to the lead from barrier 3 and will give them something to chase. If he handles topweight, the $21 that is available at publish does look big overs.

Sandown: Race 8 (5:30pm AEDT)
No. 7 Silent Roar

Silent Roar will take plenty of improvement into her second-up run at Sandown today and looks tough to beat. The Team Hawkes-trained mare has produced several eye-catching performances throughout her racing career so far and she mustered an impressive turn of foot to fly home from the tail of the field to finish third over 1400m here two weeks ago. She is a mare that has typically raced in strong company than she finds this afternoon and from the rails draw, she’ll prove difficult to catch.

best bet
Toowoomba: Race 5 (5:44pm AEDT)
No. 1 Beacon

Beacon has been a strong and consistent performer this time and can return to winning form in the fifth at Toowoomba this afternoon. The former Godolphin galloper has only had two starts since arriving at Toby Edmonds’ stables in February, but he has hit the line well on both occasions to finish third. This is the easiest task that he has been faced with in Queensland and he’ll be tough to beat with Ryan Maloney aboard.
