China Gale handled the heavy going when second in a race at this track and distance last week and she’ll only improve into his third-up run this afternoon. The Pierro gelding is a horse that typically improves with a few runs under his belt, but his two runs this time in have been full of merit and he’ll be given every chance to win today from a good draw and with Brenton Avdulla in the saddle.
Tycoon Flyer has recorded two wins from his four career starts so far and strikes another very winnable one at Rockhampton today. The two-year-old son of Tycoon Ruler raced greenly on debut but took wholesale improvement into his second and third starts, both impressive wins here at Rockhampton. He was last seen finishing fourth over 1050m at Mackay and has subsequently been gelded.
Loveseat has been charged with overcoming a wide barrier at Hawkesbury today, but she absolutely savaged the line to break his maiden on heavy at Kembla Grange last time out and with even luck in running, can make it two in a row at a nice price ($8.50 at publish). The Savabeel filly has shown good ability throughout her short racing career so far but has returned to the track a more furnished prospect this time and she should love getting out to 2000m today.
Dam Wonderful has not been seen at the races since early January, but she is a mare that has generally raced in tougher company than she finds in the seventh at Rockhampton today and she can make a winning return. The six-year-old has solid fresh form and recorded several pleasing results last time in, including a dominant win over 1000m on the Sunshine Coast. She’s had the benefit of a trial and is drawn ideally in barrier 4.
