He has been charged with overcoming several talented rivals today, but he has plenty of upside and is up to winning a race of this calibre.

The Exceed And Excel colt has continued to improve with racing; winning a smart 1000m dash down the Flemington straight on debut before finishing second behind the quality I Am Immortal in the Listed Blue Diamond Prelude C&G (1000m). His win in the Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) was bullish and bad luck looks his major danger today.
Fifty Stars looked like a horse that was crying out for a step up in trip last time out and he’ll get that in this afternoon’s Blamey Stakes. The former Weir galloper was outstanding last time in and resumed this time with a credible performance for sixth in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m). His last-start effort in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) was far better than his eleventh-placing suggested and he’s drawn to get a beautiful run today with Benny Allen aboard.
