Segouin will enjoy a drop in class at Ararat this afternoon and looks hard to beat. The five-year-old resumed this time with a good performance for second at Werribee, before taking up the running at Sandown last time out; ultimately being passed by four of her rivals. She’ll take plenty of benefit into this race and she won’t be offered a better opportunity to return to winning form.
Chorus is seeking a third-consecutive wins and looks beautifully placed to do it in the last at Ararat. The Snitzel mare did take a few to get going upon arriving at Simon Wylde’s stables in November, but she returned to the winner’s stall with a dominant, ten-length win here at Ararat two starts back before justifying odds-on favouritism to easily score again at Donald. This is another small rise in class, but she’s got the runs on the board.
Road Storm has only had two career starts so far, but he enjoyed sharp improvement last time out and looks ready to break his maiden on the Sunshine Coast tonight. A son of Shamus Award, Road Storm was settled off the pace at the Gold Coast last time out and mustered an eye-catching turn of foot to run on late for third. With improvement, he’ll prove tough to hold out.
Hi Fiver has not been seen at the races since September, but he is a horse that typically races well fresh and strikes a winnable one first-up on the Sunshine Coast tonight. The Exceedingly good gelding didn’t miss a place in six starts last time in and strung together three impressive wins. He’s trialled well in the lead-up to this race and several of his rivals are resuming from long spells. The $7 on offer at publish does look a touch of overs.
