Son Of Villa is yet to break his maiden, but this is quite clearly the easiest prospect that he has been faced with so far and simply won’t be offered a better opportunity. The son of Dyna Villa was easily beaten at Albion Park last time out, but he can hold his position on the inside of the Capalaba straight and will be hard to run down.
Brother Desy has been a strong and consistent performer this time and strikes another very winnable one at Capalaba this afternoon. The son of Smooth Fancy charged home to score over 520m at Albion Park late last year and resumed from a spell to finish a close-up third here three weeks ago. He’ll strip fitter for that run and is primed for a return to winning form.
Weeona Pete will carry winning form into the second at Sale this evening and looks well placed to make it two in a row. The two-year-old has continued to improve with racing but flew home to record the impressive win at this track and distance last time out. This is harder, but he has the runs on the board and is the one to beat.
Sapphire Power will need to show a bit of speed, but she is capable of a big run on her day and looks over the odds to win the eleventh at Sale. The daughter of Dyna Double One was unwanted in the market here last time out but ran on well to finish second, and she is at peak fitness for tonight’s run. With even luck, she can be in the finish again.
