There’s nothing worse than a crap hot-take and in the age of social media and the 24-hour news cycle, sport has plenty of them.

We here have come up with a list of some of those awful, woeful takes that are bound to have you clenching your fist and shaking your head. 

The Melbourne Storm should get their 2007, 2009 Premierships back

With Cronulla not being stripped of their 2016 Premiership despite salary cap breaches, Storm captain Cameron Smith saw fit to argue that the asterisk is removed from Storm’s 2007 and 2009 titles. 

 

The AFL Grand Final shouldn’t be played at the MCG and should also be a “best of three series”

Despite the fact that non-Victorian AFL Clubs know the Grand Final is, was and always will be at the MCG and it wasn’t a problem in the years 1992, 1994, 1998, 1999.2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2012 and 2018 they apparently have an issue with it.

Adelaide also called for the Grand Final to be a best of three after having their pants pulled down by the Tigers in 2017. 

 

Extending the Big Bash season was a great success.

Cricket Australia killed the golden goose and milked the Big Bash this season. They thought they were on a winner extending to a four-year tournament. They were not. 

Peter Beattie is doing a bang-up job as the boss of the NRL

Rugby League has plenty of issues to deal with right now and no one understands the game better than former Queensland Premier Peter Beattie.

The Gold Coast Suns beating the Sydney Swans is bad for their future draft prospects

Back when the Gold Coast Suns upset the Sydney Swans by 20 points in Round 18 of the 2018 season, it was a feel-good underdog win and one of the biggest upsets in AFL history. Luckily journalist for the AFL’s official website and AFL employee Mitch Cleary put things in perspective when he pointed out the Suns victory could affect who they pick up in the draft. Way to read the room Mitch! 

 

Changing the format and eligibility for State of Origin will be of great benefit to everyone involved.

This comes up every year. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Sam Kerr should play in the AFLW

Nothing triggers the good folk at #SokkahTwitter than calling for Sam Kerr to play for the West Coast Eagles AFLW team. Kerr, whose brother Daniel played for West Coast and is a massive fan, was named the Eagles number one ticket holder for seasons 2019 and 2020.
