A very talented and even bunch of Fillies and Mares will contest the Group 1 Coolmore Stakes on Saturday at Rosehill. This race is an important step for these horses and their post-racing career as broodmares and is also important for punters in filling the betting account! Their are plenty of chances but I have attempted to narrow it down to four!.
Moss Trip is a very consistent mare who performed well in QLD during the Winter last year. She drew very wide but was only 2.65L away in the Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara and her first up effort in the Millie Fox was very good. She beat home Cool Passion that day who went on to perform well in the Canterbury Stakes and she meets that horse 3.5kgs better at the weights. Good draw is a big bonus.
The Surround Stakes form has held up with both Nakeeta Jane and Fundamentalist running well against The Autumn Sun in the Randwick Guineas. The wide gate is a real concern but if she can get a touch of luck this filly is well over the odds.
Jamaican Rain led them a merry dance first up in the Mannerism at Caulfield and is a mare that knows how to win having won seven of her 13 starts. Barrier 16 shouldn’t be too much of an issue as Glen Boss will go forward and she drops 6.5kgs for her last start win.
Blake Shinn took off before acceptances in the Newmarket at Newy and probably cost the horse a soft win. She is a consistent mare and a race like this is not far away. Again, the barrier is a concern but she can feature in the finish.
