Big fields and big prize money is the order of the day at racing HQ on Saturday. The feature race of the day is the running of the Inaugural $5 Million All-Star Mile which provides punters with a fantastic betting race.
My 2019 All-Star Mile Tips & Preview can be found below.
Clarice Cliffs won three of her five race starts to date including a narrow loss to Oregon’s Day in the Tressady Stakes at Flemington last start. She drops back down to 1200m in this which suits and she looks well placed to return to the winners stall to start the day.
Jumbo Ozaki has now won his two race starts to date and looks a class animal. He didn’t get it all his own way at Bendigo but burst clear once he found clear running and eased up on the line. This doesn’t look a lot more difficult for him and he can remain unbeaten.
The Godolphin two-year-olds are flying and Varda couldn’t have been much more impressive on debut. She pinged the gates and took a nice sit from barrier one and burst clear in the concluding stages. She ran right through the line that day which suggests the 1200m will suit and again has drawn the inside barrier. Tough to beat.
Beauty was a little flat first up but she showed enough to give her another chance in this. She will be better for the run and she won impressively in her second race start at Bendigo in October.
Golden Authority has super impressive when he won the Colac Cup two back and wasn’t beaten far last time out. He just has to overcome a tricky gate and the big weight but he is worth a small each play at big odds.
Main Stage has been racing a bit one paced and dour however his run in the Blamey Stakes was better than his finishing position suggests. He will appreciate the step back in grade and although he is looking for further he can run a cheeky race. Worth an each way bet.
This lightly raced seven year old has been impressive in his two runs back after a long lay off and looks ready to run a race in this. He is a very talented galloper and has the potential to progress to a better grade of racing. This is a very tricky race but he has drawn ideally and can swamp them late.
I implore you to watch the Chipping Norton Stakes without focusing on Winx (hard I know) and watching this guy’s run instead. It really was a herculean performance and we shouldn’t be surprised. What we should be surprised by is his price in a race like this! He is the second best horse in the country and you know exactly what you are getting with him. One of the better bets I’ve had in a while.
You can forgot Prepare To Win’s effort in her final race last prep. The Bel Espirit mare covered more ground than Bourke and Wills and Fred Kersley had enough time to take a diary of the trip! She has won six of her 21 starts and has a very good fresh record. If Lachlan King can take a forward position from a good gate, she is a knock out chance. This is a very tough race to finish the day so why not have a throw at the stumps I say!
