Newtown Is Coming has been a strong and consistent performer this time and strikes another very winnable race at Nowra this afternoon. The Show A Heart gelding was a smart winner on the Sapphire Coast three starts back before another decent, though luckless performance for third at Cowra. His most-recent run for fourth in an 1100m sprint at Canterbury was full of merit and he’ll enjoy a return to country company today.
Cape Wickham is another horse that returns to country company at Nowra today and he looks extremely difficult to beat in the second after drawing the rails. The Fastnet Rock gelding was a smart first-up winner at Newcastle this time and there was also plenty to like about his second-up performance. While his two most-recent runs have left a little to be desired, he has struck a couple of decent fields and was fractious in the gates prior to jump last time out. He’s rock-hard fit for today’s assignment and this does look to be the easiest ask of his prep so far.
Baanone faces a step up in class into the fifth at Nowra today, but he broke his maiden in style at Canberra last time out and does look well placed to go on with the job here. The Shocking gelding has taken a couple of preparations to really learn his craft, but he does appear to have returned in the best form of his career to date and should enjoy the Nowra mile.
