Remember The Name has continued to improve with racing this time and strikes a very winnable one at Flemington today. The Lope De Vega mare was arguably the stable star for Danny O’Brien in spring and resumed this time with a credible performance for third over 1400m at Caulfield, before a tough run for fourth here at HQ. She was caught wide at Sandown last time out but still managed to finish off well for third and is rock-hard fit for today’s assignment. There’s already been plenty of interest for her in the market, but she remains at a very backable quote.
Microphone has stamped himself as a colt to follow and on exposed form, looks to have his rivals covered in the Talindert Stakes. Importantly, the son of Exceed And Excel won down the Flemington straight on debut and he took plenty of benefit from the performance into a smart second-up run for second behind the talented I Am Immortal in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) last time out. He has plenty of options from the rails draw and can extend his winning record to two.
There is no denying that Raiden was poor in his second-up effort at Randwick last time out, but there’s plenty to like about him in the fifth at Doomben today. The Foxwedge gelding has typically improved as his preparations have progressed and has produced several eye-catching performances throughout his racing career. He’s finally drawn a decent marble (barrier 3) and finds a race that looks to have plenty of early pace, which is ideal. The blinkers come off as they clearly did not work last time and he is over the odds at his current price ($19 at publish).
I Am Excited has not been seen at the races since November, but she typically flies fresh and has a class edge over the lion’s share of her rivals in this afternoon’s Triscay Stakes. The Snitzel mare has recorded five wins and a further seven minors through her sixteen career starts so far and has improved noticeably with each preparation. She is a multiple black type winner and has the notable advantage of Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle, while her wide barrier today isn’t a concern as she is extremely versatile and can settle off the pace.
