Quick Nick has not been seen at the races since October, but he was outstanding last time in and has trialled well in the lead-up to this afternoon’s first-up assignment at Tamworth. The son of Choisir didn’t finish worse than second in his four campaign starts in spring and typically stepped out in stronger company than he finds today. He’s been gelded since his last race and should get all the favours from the rails today.
Four-year-old Artefiori faces a step up in class into the fourth at Tamworth today, but she was an impressive last start winner and looks well placed to continue her rise through the grades. The daughter of Choisir has continued to improve with racing this time, but her two most-recent efforts in particular have been good, and she rates as a genuine each-way chance today ($6.50 at publish). The wide draw isn’t a concern as she’d likely settle off the pace regardless.
Peyton Place only just missed at Tamworth last time out and won’t be offered a better opportunity to return to winning form than he finds this afternoon. The three-year-old stamped himself as a horse to follow throughout a decent debut campaign last year and is another runner that has improved with racing this time. He’s drawn beautifully and has the advantage of Andrew Gibbons aboard.
Eurosay broke his maiden in style at Canberra last time out and can go on with the job in the last at Queanbeyan today. The son of Eurozone was unlucky not to secure his first race win when he flew home to finish second two starts back, but he did it pretty easily last time out and isn’t facing any superstars in his first step up in class today.
