2019 Hobartville Stakes Day Preview & Tips

Group 1 racing can be found south of the border however there is plenty of quality racing available at Rosehill Gardens which is headlined by the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes.

The Autumn Sun returns in the feature race which will hopefully lay the foundation for a successful Autumn Carnival for the Chris Waller-trained colt.

You can find our full Hobartville Stakes Day Tips below.

Highway Handicap (1100m)
BURNING CROWN

These Highway Handicaps can be a tough assignment however this edition seems fairly easy. Burning Crown is only very short however you can only back the winner!

Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m)
TASSORT

The Slipper favourite steps out for only the second time in what looks a very winnable race to kick start his Autumn campaign. Again, he is very short but it’s better than bank interest! Cardiff and Mclaren look a smart types if you want to play the multiples.

Ranvet Handicap (1350m)
THY KINGDOM COME

Thy Kingdom Come goes up in weight more than Christian Bale in his role as Dick Cheney in Vice, however I think he is the class runner in this. He is rock hard fit and still has plenty of improvement left in him and can keep progressing through the grades.

Schweppes Handicap (1500m)
SEAWAY

Seaway returned to the races with a dominant win first up at the this track and distance. He has never carried anything less then 54.5kg in his 10 start career and he won’t know himself with the 53kg.

Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m)
THE AUTUMN SUN

Just wins.

Spark Of Life Handicap (1100m)
GOLDEN TYCOON

Golden Tycoon is a lot like James Franco playing a game of gay chicken. I’m not sure he’ll follow through but he’ll be in for a long way. James McDonald should take up the running from gate seven and if he can pinch some cheap sectionals, he can win at nice each way odds.

Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m)
COOL PASSION

Tony McEvoy has got this horse firing at the moment and when these fillies and mares are in form, they tend to continue running well. She is as tough as the day is long and she will be in it for a long way in a very competitive race.

Listed Parramatta Cup (1900m)
TANGLED

Tangled returned to the races with a fast finishing third to Tom Melbourne over an unsuitable distance. He followed that effort with a flat one at Warwick Farm however they were strung out over plenty of real estate in running and they left him flat footed. Just like the American public and Bernie Sanders, I’m willing to give him another chance.

Golden Slipper Hospitality Handicap (1100m)
SHE KNOWS

She Knows worked through the grades well last prep without winning however this looks looks a very winnable race for her and can finish the day off with a winner for us at a nice price.
