Another midweek round of EPL action is underway from Wednesday morning when six of ten matches are contested.
Week 24 offers several clubs ideal opportunities to record potentially vital wins and Liverpool will be eager to strengthen their position at the top of the table when they host Leicester City on Thursday morning.
Fulham
Last 5 Matches: DWLLL
Ladder Position: 19th
Goal Difference: -30 (GF 21, GA 51)
Brighton
Last 5 Matches: DWDLL
Ladder Position: 13th
Goal Difference: -7 (GF 25, GA 32)
An interesting match to begin the round and a case to be made for both clubs. Brighton have been charged with facing Liverpool and Manchester United at their two most-recent matches and will find this an awful lot easier. They are over the odds in head-to-head betting.
Arsenal
Last 5 Matches: DLWLW
Ladder Position: 5th
Goal Difference: +16 (GF 48, GA 32)
Cardiff
Last 5 Matches: DWLDL
Ladder Position: 18th
Goal Difference: -25 (GF 19, GA 44)
Two different classes of club in 2018/19 and realistically, Arsenal should simply prove too good for Cardiff City in London. The $1.25 on offer for the Gunners is too short for me and I can’t find an angle I’m keen to pursue, so happy to stay out of this one from a betting perspective.
Huddersfield
Last 5 Matches: LLLDL
Ladder Position: 20th
Goal Difference: -27 (GF 13, GA 40)
Everton
Last 5 Matches: WLLWL
Ladder Position: 11th
Goal Difference: +1 (GF 34, GA 33)
Everton are offered a great opportunity to win when they travel to last-placed Huddersfield Town early tomorrow morning. It has been a truly horrible season for the Terriers, who are yet to win a match in 2019 and who remain a win adrift of any other club. Demotion appears imminent and the Toffees can drive another nail into the coffin.
Wolves
Last 5 Matches: DWLLW
Ladder Position: 8th
Goal Difference: -4 (GF 27, GA 31)
West Ham
Last 5 Matches: WLDWL
Ladder Position: 10th
Goal Difference: -4 (GF 30, GA 34)
This looks like being one of the better contests of the round and both clubs will be eager to snatch vital competition points. Wolves have typically been far better in front of the home faithful than on the road this season, and that proved to be the case again when they put four past Leicester City last weekend.
Newcastle
Last 5 Matches: LDLLW
Ladder Position: 17th
Goal Difference: -12 (GF 19, GA 31)
City
Last 5 Matches: LWWWW
Ladder Position: 2nd
Goal Difference: +45 (GF 62, GA 17)
It is simply impossible to tip again reigning champions Manchester City and they look like making light work of the inconsistent Newcastle in England’s north this week. Understandably they are clear favourites to win and it is hard to see the Magpies causing too many headaches for this world-class squad.
United
Last 5 Matches: WWWWW
Ladder Position: 6th
Goal Difference: +13 (GF 46, GA 33)
Burnley
Last 5 Matches: LWWWD
Ladder Position: 16th
Goal Difference: -20 (GF 23, GA 43)
United’s outstanding form under Ole Gunner Solskjaer has continued and they’ll be confident of recording another win over the Clarets. Burnley have actually been in decent form recently, but this is a big step up in class for the minnow club and they will have their hands full with arguably the league’s formed team.
Bournemouth
Last 5 Matches: LLDLW
Ladder Position: 12th
Goal Difference: -9 (GF 33, GA 42)
Chelsea
Last 5 Matches: WWDWL
Ladder Position: 4th
Goal Difference: +21 (GF 40, GA 19)
Bournemouth finally returned to winning form at the expense of West Ham last weekend, but they’ll need to improve drastically again to compete with Chelsea. Chelsea dropped all the points away to crosstown rivals Arsenal last week but are faced with an ideally opportunity to atone here.
Southampton
Last 5 Matches: LLDWW
Ladder Position: 15th
Goal Difference: -15 (GF 25, GA 40)
Palace
Last 5 Matches: DLWLL
Ladder Position: 14th
Goal Difference: -9 (GF 23, GA 32)
One of the better contestes of the round looks like materialising in the south of England on Thursday morning. Palace have been a legitimate thorn in the side of some of the league’s bigger clubs this season and they were genuinely unlucky not to take anything from their seven-goal thriller with Liverpool last week. I give them a serious chance of winning this, and they can definitely muster a draw.
Spurs
Last 5 Matches: WLWLW
Ladder Position: 3rd
Goal Difference: +25 (GF 48, GA 23)
Watford
Last 5 Matches: LDDWD
Ladder Position: 7th
Goal Difference: 0 (GF 32, GA 32)
Spurs will be eager to make it two in a row when they host Watford on Thursday morning. This Watford side has been capable of big performances and results all season, but their form recently has been a bit difficult to gauge and this match will be a serious test.
Liverpool
Last 5 Matches: WWLWW
Ladder Position: 1st
Goal Difference: +41 (GF 51, GA 17)
Leicester
Last 5 Matches: WLWLL
Ladder Position: 9th
Goal Difference: 0 (GF 29, GA 29)
The league leaders recorded a tough win over a spirited Crystal Palace side last weekend and will be confident of making it three in a row at the expense of Leicester. The Foxes have dropped each of their two most-recent league games and face a huge task in reversing their fortunes here.
