Rekindled Force failed to fire at Cessnock first-up but boasts decent second-up form and strikes a very winnable race at Scone this afternoon. The Redoute’s Choice gelding stormed home to win with complete ease over 1200m at Newcastle in his first second-up tilt in 2017 and he simply didn’t have conditions to suit last time out. With improvement, he is good enough to return to winning form today.
Sovereign Love has finished second a each of her three most-recent starts and won’t be offered a better opportunity to break her maiden than she finds at Werribee this afternoon. The daughter of Congrats has continued to improve with racing and has finished a short nose behind the winner at her two latest appearances. She can go forward from the rails draw today and will give them something to chase.
Fast Stepping will carry winning form into the fourth at Werribee today and looks beautifully placed to make it two in a row. The Fighting Sun gelding stamped himself as a horse to follow with a couple of decent efforts during his debut preparation but took up the running first-up at Geelong this time and never appeared in doubt. He’ll only improve from the run and can emulate the same tactics from barrier 2.
Love For Willow has not been seen at the races since July, but she is a horse with plenty of ability and looks over the odds at her current price ($12 at publish). The Denman mare resumed for just one start in winter but ran on well to finish a close-up second and a repeat of that effort would see her in the finish again today. Robert Thompson is a bonus and she’s been charged with carrying only 54kgs.
