She’s Spicy has returned to racing in excellent condition this time and is primed for a big performance in this afternoon’s Highway race at Randwick. The Real Saga mare strung together two smart wins on the Gold Coast and at Doomben respectively upon resuming last month, before running a half-head second to Winter Passage at Doomben last time out. Brenton Avdulla in the saddle is a big plus and Matt Dunn’s record in these Highway races is outstanding.
Wasabi Bob will carry winning form into the first at Morphettville today and looks beautifully placed to make it two in a row. The five-year-old has recorded plenty of impressive results throughout his racing career and hit the line well to record an easy win at Gawler last time out. This is slightly harder, but the small rise in trip will suit and with even luck he’ll be fighting out the finish.
Silentz is seeking a hattrick of wins when he steps out at Caulfield this afternoon and he is clearly the horse to beat. The son of Snitzel did take a couple of runs to tune up when resuming, but he finished on the winner’s heels at Warnambool three runs back before two impressive wins in metro company most-recently. He’s rock hard fit and could receive the run of the race today from barrier 4.
Former Lindsay Park galloper Sovereign Nation will have his first start for Matt Dunn in this afternoon’s Sunshine Coast Cup and is worth consideration at each-way odds ($10 at publish). The Encosta De Lago gelding has been a strong and largely consistent performer throughout his entire racing career so far and is a multiple black type winner. Given his record and the fact he’s being saddle by the Dunn stable, it would not surprise to see Sovereign Nation produce a big first-up effort.
