La Parva has not been seen at the races since late November, but she has trilled well in the lead-up to this race and does look to have a class edge over her rivals. The Lonhro filly was an easy winner on debut earlier this year before immediately making a credible transition to black type company when she finished fifth at Group 2 level. She’s drawn ideally today and could enjoy the run of the race from gate 3.
Horn will have his first start since August at Nowra this afternoon and he’ll enjoy a step back from city company into this field of maidens. The Snitzel gelding hit the line well to finish third in a couple of provincial sprint races through July before a tough run for fifth at Canterbury most-recent. He’s trialled beautifully in the lead-up to this race and will have conditions to suit, particularly after drawing gate 4.
Admissible has gone extremely close without breaking her maiden, and probably won’t be offered a better opportunity than she finds in the fifth at Gosford this afternoon. The Lonhro filly hit the line well to finish third at Wyong first-up before a couple of tough performances on heavy going to finish right on the heels of the winner. A return to good going today should suit and she has the advantage of in-form hoop Rachel King aboard.
This looks a wide-open field of well-bred, well-trained maidens, but with even luck in running I think that Pellicle can fight out the finish. The Sepoy filly has steadily built to the task through her two starts this time and was last seen hitting the line well to finish third over 1500m at Kembla Grange. She’ll carry only 55.5kgs today and with improvement, will be tough to catch.
