The Australian PGA Championship is underway at Royal Pines on the Gold Coast from this morning and I think that Cameron Smith can successfully defend his title. Smith finished well at the Australian Open two weeks ago and enters the tournament off the back of a very credible season in the United States. He also performed extremely well alongside Marc Leishman in the final round of the World Cup of Golf; holing-out from the bunker one notable highlight of his day. He looks over the odds at $7.
The Red Wings were unlucky to go down to the Blue Jackets in an absolute goal-fest on Tuesday and I am confident that they can return to winning form at the expense of the lowly St Louis Blues. Detroit do not look like a team capable of making this season’s playoffs, but they have steadily warmed to the task recently and have climbed off the bottom and into sixth in the Atlantic Division. They represent good value in head-to-head betting.
Round 8 is underway with a bang when the Kings host the Wildcats in Sydney on Thursday night. This is first versus third and the result could play a key role in who plays who come regular season’s end. The Wildcats have still suffered only one defeat all season and enter Round 7 with an outstanding 10-1 record. A win in New Zealand on Friday was franked when they returned home and turned around a 15-point third-quarter deficit the again beat the Breakers by five points. I can’t see why the Wildcats have been priced as outsiders and I am more than happy to continue riding their wave of form.
