We’re set for another quality NBL fixture in the nation’s west this afternoon when the Wildcats host the travelling New Zealand Breakers. The Wildcats have been red-hot this season and as the league leaders playing at home, this really does loom as their game to lose. The Breakers are yet to find their best, but they have still managed some good results and are in touch with the top four leading into this round. Both teams have been racking up some big scores and that looks like materialising again today.
The Phoenix look an improved side this season and they can record another win at home against the Wanderers this afternoon. They were far too good for last season’s grand finalists the Jets in Week 1 and they kept the Roar scoreless in a hard-fought draw in Brisbane last weekend. The Wanderers were pretty easily accounted for by Sydney FC in last weekend’s derby and they face another tough task here.
The Jets and Victory will square off in Newcastle tonight and it looms as a terrific opportunity for the away side to notch their first win of the season. They were unlucky not to take anything from their Week 1 derby against City and they again conceded late to lose to Perth Glory last weekend. The Jets didn’t show up in Week 1, but it was an improved effort that saw them draw with Adelaide away most recently. This shapes as one of those low-scoring fixtures that the Victory steal and I am happy to take them in head-to-head betting.
