Oriental Gift will take plenty of benefit into his second-up assignment today and will be tough to beat. The Street Boss gelding was good between lacklustre runs last time in, but he worked home well from the tail of the field to finish fifth at Kilmore first-up. The small rise in trip is ideal and with even luck, he can fight out the finish.
Angel Of War just missed at Beaudesert last time out and she simply won’t be offered a better opportunity to break her maiden than she finds at Ballina this afternoon. The Declaration Of War filly has continued to improve with racing this time and worked home well to finish second two starts back as well. This certainly isn’t the most talented field and Luke Rolls can find a nice position in transit from a central draw.
Stripping Royalty is rock-hard fit and is the one the beat in Race 6 at Ballarat today. The Tavistock filly has enjoyed an impressive start to her racing career this season; running a place in each of her first three starts before breaking her maiden at Bendigo in September. She was last seen finishing seventh in the Listed Hill Smith Stakes (1800m) at Morphettville and will relish this big step back in class.
Bringit has not been seen at the races since May, but he is a horse that typically pulls out a good run fresh and he can fight out the finish at a nice price this afternoon ($15 at the time of publish). There is not doubt that he will be better over a greater distance, but he has a class edge over several of his rivals here and should be given a nice ride by Dean Yendall.
