Tormino has only made two appearances at the races so far, but he improved noticeably at his second appearance and with even luck this afternoon, can break his maiden. The son of Reliable Man raced greenly on debut at Cranbourne to finish eighth but ran on well at Kilmore last time out to finish within two lengths of the race winner. Breeding suggests he’ll relish today’s increased trip and Noel Callow will have plenty of options from the rails draw.
Kievann has returned several good performances and results this time and will be hard to beat at Ballina this afternoon. The veteran sprinter returned to the paddock after recording a dominant win over 1200m at Caloundra in late September and shook off the cobwebs when third over 1000m three weeks ago. He’s drawn ideally this afternoon and will give them something to chase.
Vivacity only just missed when second here at Seymour first-up and with improvement, will be hard to beat today. The Bel Esprit mare has finished worse than second only once through her five career starts to date and has clearly taken plenty of benefit from each of her competitive appearance. Jamie Mott can take a position close to the pace from barrier 5 and the mare will be hard to hold out.
Sheer Madness is capable of a big performance on his day and should be ready to do something third-up in the last at Ballarat this afternoon. The Moshe gelding hit the line well to finish second at Mornington first-up but returned a rare flat run at Ballarat last time out. 1400m does look to be his ideal trip and he’ll be given every chance to fight out the finish from the rails draw.
