Rosecraft has shown terrific ability through her short racing career so far and can make it two in a row at Canberra this afternoon. The Star Witness mare debuted with a credible performance to finish fifth at Goulburn in July and has quickly improved through each of her three subsequent starts; placing twice before breaking her maiden here at Canberra a fortnight ago. She is rock-hard fit, drawn and weighted well and has the notable advantage of Jeff Penza aboard.
Who Da Witness will strip fitter into her third-up run this afternoon and can fight out the finish at Canberra, at a nice price. The four-year-old failed to in her debut preparation and clearly needed the run to dust off the cobwebs first-up this time, but she took up the running here at Canberra a fortnight ago and finished a credible third. A repeat of that performance would put her right in the finish again, but with benefit she can break her maiden.
Marzena has finished off her two races this time well and she can return to the winner’s stall in the last at Canberra this afternoon. The Dreamscape mare has typically improved with racing and resumed this time for a credible third over 1080m here, before an almost identical performance for the same result at this track and distance a fortnight ago. Simon Miller can find a position close to the pace this afternoon and Marzena can fight out the finish.
Swaffham Bulbeck will take plenty of benefit into his third-up assignment this afternoon and should be ready to peak. The All Too Hard gelding was a strong and consistent performer last time in and resumed this time for second in an 1100m sprint at Geelong. Having worked home well after finally getting clear running to finish fifth at Sandown a fortnight ago, the four-year-old has drawn ideally into this field and can fight out the finish.
