Moonee Valley: Race 2 (7pm)
No. 1 I Am A Star

Group 1 winner I Am A Star will carry winning form into tonight’s Stocks Stakes and I am confident that she can successfully defend her crown in this race. The five-year-old returned from a long spell to finish a credible fourth in the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) first-up, before hitting the line well for third in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m). Having beaten a smart field to the line in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) a fortnight ago, I Am A Star returns to her pet trip tonight and in this small field, will take a power of beating.

Moonee Valley: Race 3 (7:30pm)
No. 3 Trap For Fools

Trap For Fools has arguably found career-best form since arriving in Jarrod Mclean’s care and he is primed for a third-consecutive win in the JRA Cup tonight. The former Perth galloper tuned-up via a couple of nice performances in Victorian metro races in June, before returning to winning form with a dominant performance at this track and distance fourth-up. Having repeated that effort and result under the same conditions last time out, he does face a rise in class tonight but is rock-hard fit and ready to win again.

Moonee Valley: Race 6 (9:15pm)
No. 4 Zizzis

Zizzis returned to the races with a nice run for sixth in the Listed Cap D’Antibes (1100m) down the Flemington straight a fortnight ago, and I think that she can fight out the finish of the Scarborough Stakes tonight. The daughter of Sizzling stamped herself as a filly to follow through her two-year-old campaign and record two wins and a close-up second through her three starts, including a dominant win in the Adelaide Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m). She’ll relish a return to racing with a bend and will take plenty of improvement into this. She looks over the odds at her double-figure quote ($11 at the time of publish).

Moonee Valley: Race 7 (9:45pm)
No. 7 Viddora

Group 1 winner Viddora typically flies fresh and she can fight out the finish of the Moir Stakes tonight, at a nice price ($10 at the time of publish). The I Am Invincible mare was unlucky not to win this race when an agonizingly-close second to She Will Reign last year, but she has since won a Group 1 and also taken out the lucrative Magic Millions Snippets (1200m). This is an outstanding field, but Viddora is certainly worth consideration for an each-way bet.
