English Premier League Week 4 Preview

English Premier League Week 4 Preview

The Premier League ladder took a different shape last weekend and there’s plenty more movement that can happen throughout the ten matches of Week 4.

The action is underway on Saturday night when league-leaders Liverpool travel to Leicester, before several potentially key fixtures are played between teams fighting at the top and bottom of proceedings.

The action will end early on Monday morning when Manchester United attempt to restore some hope at the expense of Burnley.

Leicester City vs Liverpool
Mane Anytime Goal ($2.65)

Leicester City are faced with a massive task in overcoming Liverpool in the opener to Week 4 of the Premier League.

The Reds kept their undefeated start to the season alive by sneaking past a spirited Brighton side 1-0 and they subsequently returned to the top of the table, via superior goal difference. Mohammad Salah netted his second goal of the season and is sure to have taken plenty of confidence from both his own and his team’s performance.

The Foxes returned to winning form with a smart 2-1 performance to overcome a 10-man Southampton side, but they will need to find a lot more to compete here. That was Leicester’s second win of the season and they sit seventh in overall standings, with plenty of scope to improve.

Sadio Mane leads the way with three goals in the season so far and he can notch another against Leicester.

Crystal Palace vs Southampton
Draw ($3.40)

Both clubs are offered a great opportunity at points when Crystal Palace and Southampton meet at Selhurst Park at midnight on Saturday.

The Eagles snuck away with a handy 2-0 win over Fulham in Week 1, but they’ve since been beaten by Liverpool and Watford and really need to find winning form again, if they are to pull themselves away from the relegation fight.

Southampton suffered a second-consecutive defeat and things are already beginning to look grim for the South England club. If not for a Week 1 draw with the similarly disappointing Burnley, they’d be anchored to the bottom of the table and starring down the relegation fight very early.

It’s difficult to split these two clubs on form and ability and a draw looms as a potentially lucrative betting play.

West Ham vs Wolves
Wolves to Win ($2.80)

West Ham will have their hands full again when they welcome Wolves to London in Week 4 of the Premier League.

Its been a truly awful start to the season for the Hammers, who have lost all three of their matches so far, leaked nine goals and find themselves as the sole occupant of the bottom rung of the ladder. Their roster is one of the strongest of the chasing pack, but they simply have not been able to put it together and they’ll need to improve noticeably to compete here.

Wolves’ shaky start to the season was stemmed in Week 3 and while they did not find winning form, they’ll take plenty of confidence from their 1-1 draw with reigning champions Manchester City.

This is the perfect opportunity for Wolves to win and they represent outstanding value in head-to-head betting.

Everton vs Huddersfield Town
Over 2.5 Goals ($1.98)

Everton will host the winless Huddersfield Town on Saturday night and will be extremely confident of returning to winning form. It’s been a fair start to the Premier League season for the Toffees, who enter Week 4 undefeated but also with only one win beside their name. One thing that has not been a problem for Everton this season has been goal scoring and they have netted two in each of their fixtures so far.

Huddersfield were forced to line up opposite Chelsea and Manchester City in the first two weeks of their new campaign but managed one competition point against Cardiff last weekend, despite going down to ten men. With another improved performance, they can challenge Everton.

I am confident that Everton will win this match and they can find the back of the net a few more times.

Brighton vs Fulham
Draw ($3.40)

Brighton and Fulham will square off in one of the more intriguing contests in Week 4 of the Premier League.

Its been a reasonably enjoyable start to the season for Brighton fans, who have witnessed their club upset Manchester and hold premiership threats Liverpool to a single goal. In current form, the Seagulls will relish matches like this one and will be extremely confident of winning.

The Cottagers secured their first win of the Premier League season over Burnley in Week 3 and will take plenty of benefit into what shapes as another very winnable contest. Fulham’s multidimensional attack is continuing to gel week-on-week and they will be a handful for Aussie Mat Ryan and the Brighton defence.

These clubs are tough to split in current form and a draw looms as a potentially lucrative betting play.

Chelsea vs Bournemouth
Under 3 Goals ($2.12)

Chelsea will be confident of making it four-in-a-row when they host Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge at midnight, Saturday.

The refreshed Chelsea side have won each of their three matches with relative ease so far and return to London off the back of a credible 2-1 win over Newcastle in the north of England. Chelsea are faced with minnow opponents for the next three weeks and will be confident of delivering the Cherries the first loss of their campaign.

Bournemouth have been outstanding through the first three weeks of the competition and enter this match off the back of another impressive performance against Everton, albeit ending in a draw. They are playing like a team on a mission and they sit sixth in overall standings, tied on competition points with reigning champions Manchester City.

This is easily the biggest task that Bournemouth have faced so far and while they do look over the odds in head-to-head betting, it will be difficult to compete with Chelsea for the full 90.

Manchester City vs Newcastle
Over 3.5 Goals ($1.90)

City will be confident of bouncing back to winning form when they host Newcastle at the Etihad early on Sunday morning.

The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolves in Week 3, but dispatched Arsenal and Huddersfield through the first two weeks of the EPL and remain justifiable favourites to win again in 2018/19. They boast the best squad in the Premier League, plenty of depth and they should simply be too classy in Week 4.

Newcastle were decent in their 2-1 loss to Chelsea last weekend but remain winless in the league this season. They were lucky to survive the drop last season and they will need to start winning matches to avoid that predicament again.

City should be winning here and winning well.

Cardiff City vs Arsenal
Arsenal to Win to Nil ($2.70)

Arsenal can make it two-in-a-row when they travel to Wales to face new boys Cardiff City on Sunday. Charged with facing Manchester City and Chelsea in the first two weeks of the competition, the Gunners put on a decent display to easily put away West Ham in Week 3 and they are a faced with a similarly-formed and position rival in Cardiff here.

The Bluebirds took another point away from Huddersfield in Week 3, but remain caught towards the bottom of the table on two competition points. They are a club that is expected to be caught in the relegation fight all season and they face another tough task in one of the league’s biggest clubs.

Arsenal will continue to climb back up the ladder by winning and they can keep their opponents goalless in Week 4.

Watford vs Tottenham Hotspur
Draw ($4.15)

The undefeated Watford host the undefeated Tottenham, in what looms as a terrific match for fans and neutrals alike.

The Hornets have been simply outstanding through the early stages of the season and sit fourth in overall standings following three impressive wins. They went on with the job by defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 last weekend, with a performance that was highlighted by and impressive Jose Holebas effort from range.

Spurs are also three from three but as one of the league’s bigger clubs, that is less surprising. They absolutely towelled Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend and will be full of confidence ahead of this match is a ‘smaller’ opponent.

Watford are over the odds at their current price and I am confident that they can sneak at least a draw.

Burnley vs Manchester United
Over 2.5 Goals ($2.15)

The Premier League Week 4 action wraps up at Turf Moor early on Monday morning when Manchester United attempt to get their campaign back on track.

The Red Devils have lost each of their two-most recent matches against Brighton and Spurs respectively, but what is perhaps most worrying is that they have leaked six goals in those two fixtures.

Burnley have not picked up where they left off last season and enter this match winless and stuck in eighteenth overall. They suffered another comfortable defeat to Fulham last weekend and will need to improve drastically to overcome a club of United’s calibre.
