Cronulla will continue tuning up for the finals when they host the inconsistent Knights in the Shire this afternoon. The Sharks have found an impressive run of form recently and have delivered some of the competition’s best teams defeat, including the Melbourne Storm two weeks ago. The Knights did notch a smart win over the free-falling Panthers last weekend, but they do face a far harder task in the form of the Sharks and it’s tough seeing them competing for the full 80 minutes.
The Dees and Giants will both play finals footy this season and the result of this afternoon’s game could go a long way towards deciding which club will gain a home final in a fortnight. The Dees produced a terrific performance to secure their finals berth in the nation’s west last week and will take plenty of confidence into this, as a result. The Giants limp into this off the back of a loss to Swans and they looms as the ideal target for Melbourne to break their drought against top eight sides this season.
Week 3 of the Premier League continues tonight and Watford can continue their impressive starts to the campaign by beating Crystal Palace at home. The Hornets flew the gates with a smart 2-0 win over Brighton in Week 1 and the franked that performance with another tough performance to beat Burnley 3-1 on the road. Palace also opened their account in the best way possible with a win over Fulham, but they were easily accounted for by Liverpool last week. This should be a great contest but at Vicarage Road, I think Watford will be tough to beat.
It’s been a baptism of fire for Fulham in their first two weeks back in the Premier League, but they are offered a terrific opportunity at winning when they host the misfiring Burnley tonight. The Cottagers were soundly beaten 2-0 by Crystal Palace in Week 1, but they improved and managed to open their scoring account against live title hope Tottenham last week. Burnley have not lived up to the hype through the first two rounds of the season and face a tough task again tonight.
