Daily Racing Tips – Saturday, August 11

Doomben: Race 4 (1:17pm)
No. 11 From Within

From Within has not been seen at the races since February, but she has typically raced in tougher company than she finds at Doomben today and is a proven first-up performer. The Not A Single Doubt mare has transferred to the care of Toby Edmonds for her current campaign and produced a scintillating trial in the lead-up to this. She has continued to receive plenty of interest in betting and looks extremely well placed.

Rosehill: Race 5 (2:20pm)
No. 2 Tactical Advantage

Tactical Advantage returned to the races for a dominant win in the July Sprint a fortnight ago and will line up alongside several of those rivals again today, with plenty of benefit still to be had. The son of Bel Esprit has been a strong and consistent performer throughout his entire racing career so far and has finished outside the places only three times in fourteen starts. Hugh Bowman retains the ride from a good draw and it is extremely difficult seeing anything beating him.

Flemington: Race 7 (3:55pm)
No. 1 Home Of The Brave

Home Of The Brave will make his Australian debut in the Aurie’s Star Handicap this afternoon and if he finds his British form, will be extremely difficult to beat. A multiple black type winner in the UK, the son of Starspangledbanner has only missed a place a handful of times throughout his career and has shown excellent ability in trials since arriving to James Cummings’ care. Godolphin have been typically brilliant in picking the right horses to bring to Australia and I am confident that Home Of The Brave will continue the trend.

Flemington: Race 8 (4:35pm)
No. 4 Husson Eagle

Husson Eagle is a horse that is perennially over the odds in betting and that looks to be the case again at Flemington today. A black type performer throughout his racing career and a winner at the Magic Millions, the Husson gelding steadily built to the task this time before flying home from the tail of the field to win the Mildura Cup (1400m) at double-figure odds last time out. This does look harder, but he’s rock hard fit and well and truly worth each-way consideration at his current price.
