Clear Sailing turned in a lacklustre performance last time out, but she has been racing well otherwise this time and can fight out the finish of the first at Ipswich, at a great price. The Not A Single Doubt mare took a couple of runs to tune up upon resuming in June, but hit the line well for fourth over a mile here three starts back, before a decent effort for third after a tough run on-pace at Dalby. She’ll have plenty of options from the rails draw today and leading jockey Jeff Lloyd is a big bonus.
First Time Lucky has not been seen at the races since March, but he is a horse that has typically raced in strong company than he finds at Canberra this afternoon and he can get the job done. The Hinchinbrook gelding debuted for second over 900m at Goulburn in November but failed to make an impression in two subsequent starts. He has trialled extremely well in the lead-up to this race and won’t be offered a better opportunity to break his maiden.
Attila has returned to the track in terrific form this time and is ideally placed third-up at Scone this afternoon. The I Am Invincible gelding has finished outside the first three only a handful of times through thirteen career starts and resumed this time for a credible fourth at Tamworth. He stepped out amongst decent company at Coffs Harbour last week and ran through traffic to finish third, but should have an easier time of it today after drawing well.
Capo Di Tutti has produced two good efforts this time in and is ready to peak at Ipswich this afternoon. The five-year-old lost his rider when first-up at the Sunshine Coast in June, but has since flown home from the tail of the field to finish third at Gatton, and hit the line well again amongst decent company for third at this track and distance. The wide barrier is a slight concern but he’s likely to settle behind the pace anyway, before calling on his turn of foot.
