Peko has only made one appearance at the races so far, but she produced a commendable effort to run second and with natural improvement, can go one better at Pakenham today. The Bel Esprit filly trialled well in the lead-up to debuting and she was settled on-pace by jockey Ben Thompson four weeks ago; hitting the line well and unlucky to be beaten in the final strides of the race by No Alibi. She is drawn and weighted to win today.
French Jet has not been seen at the races in 2018, but he is a proven first-up performer and can fight his way into the finish of Race 4 at Rockhampton this afternoon. The Jet Spur gelding has typically raced in tougher company than he finds this afternoon and is drawn ideally in gate 3 to find a position on-pace today. You can take around $8 for the horse at the time of publish and that does look to be over the odds.
Mighty Marmalade has only made two appearances at the races so far, but is clearly a horse with a fair amount of potential and can make a winning return at Wyong today. The three-year-old immediately stamped herself as a filly to follow when she debuted here in February and ran on well to finish second, before stepping out at 1200m for a commanding win in March. She’s trialled well in the lead-up to this race and looks to have an edge over her rivals.
Shadow Vision is a horse with plenty of speed and he can return to winning form in the final race at Wyong today. The Dane Shadow gelding resumed for a close-up third over 1400m at Goulburn in May before a pair of mid-pack finishes in a couple of talent-rich metro races. He was last seen finishing third over 1750m at Canberra and the slight step back in trip today looks ideal. Trainer Kurt Goldman has elected to scratch the horse from a stronger race at Canterbury tomorrow and he is beautifully placed today.
