Pakenham: Race 2 (1:25pm)
No. 3 Cerebellum

Cerebellum returned to the races in May for a sixth at Geelong but will return today after a throat operation and looks well placed. The son of Fastnet Rock did make up plenty of ground in the late stages of the 1200m and finished within two lengths of the winner, in what was an honest performance given the circumstances. He’s drawn well to find a position in behind the pace and can break his maiden amongst this company.

Pakenham: Race 6 (3:30pm)
No. 1 Pioneertown

Pioneertown has been racing well without winning this time, but is ready to peak fourth-up at Pakenham this afternoon. Formerly saddled in the UK by Sir Mark Prescott, the High Chaparral gelding shook off the cobwebs over 2025m at Cranbourne first-up, before a close-up second over a mile and a half at Kembla Grange. He ran on well to finish fourth amongst decent company at this track and distance last time out and with claiming apprentice Fred Kersley aboard, can post his first Australian win.

Ballina: Race 7 (4:25pm)
No. 9 Spanish Steps

Three-year-old Spanish Steps looks to be a horse with a good amount of ability and she is capable of saluting at a nice each-way price at Ballina this afternoon. The daughter of Lope De Vega hit the line well to place in each of her first three starts this time, before breaking her maiden at Lismore two starts back. She was taken to the lead last time out and was clearly run off her feet by the time the field straightened, but she’ll have plenty of options from the rails draw today and can be right in the finish.

Cairns: Race 7 (4:35pm)
No. 2 Hunter Caulfield

Hunter Caulfield will take plenty of benefit into his second-up run at Cairns this afternoon and has the notable advantage of Robert Thompson in the saddle. The Duporth gelding has been a strong and consistent performer throughout his entire racing career and has typically raced in stronger company than he finds in North Queensland this afternoon. He has drawn reasonably awkwardly, but he has plenty of early speed and can find a good position in running.
