More Chilli is only having his second career start at Scone this afternoon, but he showed plenty of ability first-up and can break his maiden here. The son of Sizzling jumped a $26 shot at Muswellbrook after trialling only fairly, but he mustered a big turn of foot to run on for second behind runaway leader Kedah. With natural improvement he’ll be hard to hold out and the wide draw isn’t an issue as he’ll likely go back anyway.
Honourabeel has only managed two mid-pack finishes in his short racing career to date, but breeding suggests that he’ll relish a big step up in trip at Geelong this afternoon. The son of Savabeel was settled at the tail of the field over 1400m on debut and worked home fairly, before missing the start at a mile last time out and failing to make up the required distance. He’ll be given every opportunity by Michael Dee today and could prove over the odds at his current double-figure price.
Athena’s Voice has returned to the track in competitive form this time and finds herself in a very winnable race at Scone this afternoon. The Poet’s Voice took a couple of runs to find peak condition upon resuming in May, but stormed home for a comfortable win over 1750m at Muswellbrook two starts back, before finishing fourth last time out. She can take a position just behind the pace from barrier 7 and she has the added advantage of Robert Thompson in the saddle.
Pure Emotion will step back from Saturday grade into Race 5 at Geelong today and has the ability to return to winning form. The three-year-old took up the running at Pakenham in late May and was unlucky to be pipped late by Redcore, before a similar performance and result at this course and distance two starts back. She will relish a return to good going today and should be right in the finish.
