Jessamin is on a four-day back-up at Sandown today and drops noticeably in class into this mile race. The Stratum filly took up the running at Hawkesbury two starts back before eventually finishing second behind Sweet Victory, while she finished within three lengths of the winner at Flemington on Saturday. The increase in trip looks ideal at this point of her preparation and she’ll be extremely difficult to run down.
Florid returned to the races for a smart second at Hawkesbury and will take wholesale improvement into his second-up run this afternoon. The Godolphin runner has been a strong and consistent performer throughout his entire racing career so far and has performed well on a soft track previously. He’s drawn ideally in barrier 2 and looks over the odds at his current price to win.
Chalmers has finished outside the first three only a handful of times throughout his racing career and should find himself right in the finish again at Warwick Farm this afternoon. The Mossman gelding resumed for a close-up second behind Juventus at Newcastle, before enjoying a step up in trip when a classy winner over 1500m. He finished runner-up behind quality galloper Gresham at his most-recent appearance and there is no horse of that calibre in this field. James McDonald and the rails draw are both positives.
