Soviet showed decent ability without breaking his maiden last time in and returns from the ultimate gear chance in a winnable race at Hawkesbury this afternoon. The son of Stratum was unlucky to be pipped on the line when first-up last time at Newcastle, before turning in something of a flat performance at Canterbury last time out. He has trialled well in the lead-up to this race and with the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott polish, can be right in the finish.
Superior Choice has improved at both of her career starts to date and is ready to peak and break her maiden third-up today. The daughter of Redoute’s Choice took up the running on the Randwick Kensington course most recently and was tough to the line to finish second behind smart stable mate Wide Spread Panic. She’ll take a position close to the pace again today and looks ready to fire.
Raw Emotion has steadily built to the task this time and looks to have finally found her ideal race at Hawkesbury this afternoon. The Animal Kingdom filly took a couple of runs to tune up upon resuming in late April but has hit the line well for fourth and second at Hawkesbury and Wyong most-recently. She’s drawn to get a nice run behind the pace and looks to have a stronger turn of foot than any of her rivals here.
