Peaceful State has found outstanding form this time and he will take his place in a very winnable race at Doomben this afternoon. The son of Animal Kingdom ran a smart second behind Grunt in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) in March and while he failed to fire in the Randwick Guineas a week later, has since won both the Listed Nitschke Stakes (1400m) and Listed Adelaide Guineas (1600m). He’s trialled well in the lead-up to today’s appearance and could enjoy the run of the race from barrier 6.
Ability has not been seen at the races since October and will be having his first start for Henry Dwyer this afternoon, but he is an outstanding horse and has a class edge over his rivals in Race 5 at Flemington. The Reward For Effort gelding won each of his first four starts last time in, which included easy triumphs in both the Listed All Victorian Sprint Final (1200m) and the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) most notably. He has been set for the winter sprint features in Victoria again this time and can begin his preparation on a winning note.
Lean Mean Machine has been outstanding throughout his short racing career and has the opportunity to post a maiden Group 1 win at Doomben this afternoon. The Zoustar colt debuted for an impressive win at Warwick Farm before running a credible third in the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1200m) during The Championships. He’s kicked up a gear since arriving in Queensland however and ran third in the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial (1200m) before taking out the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) a fortnight ago. He’s rock hard fit and will be right in the finish again today.

Kiwia has been racing well without finding winning form this time and he is primed for another decent run in the Brisbane Cup this afternoon. The Reset gelding ran on well to finish fourth in the Premier’s Cup over this course and distance a fortnight ago and he is drawn to receive a far better run from gate 4 today. A drop in the weights is ideal and he is good enough to win this race.
