This is one of several races that Peter & Paul Snowden look like saddling the winner of at the Sunshine Coast today. Sokudo failed to fire second-up in the Listed China Horse Club Mile at Randwick in April but he was a dominant winner at Newcastle to break his maiden last time out and looks to have found an ideal black type target this afternoon. Corey Brown can find a good position in transit from an inside draw and he’ll be extremely hard to beat, particularly with a number of early scratchings already confirmed.
Granny Red Shoes resumed for a dominant win over 1000 on the Sunshine Coast to break her maiden in April, before running a smart second behind Eawase in the Listed Bill Carter Stakes a fortnight ago and is primed for another big run this afternoon. There doesn’t look to be anything of Eawase’s quality in this field and Granny Red Shoes won’t be offered a better shot at black type than she’ll get this afternoon. She looks to have an edge over all of her rivals.
Egg Tart is a multiple Group 1 winner and should find herself in the winner’s stall at the Sunshine Coast this afternoon. She took a few runs to get going this time in, but has been great since arriving north of the border and finished fifth in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m), before running a head second to stable mate Comin’ Through in the Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m) a fortnight ago. A step up in trip is ideal and while she is odds-on in regular betting, you can take around $2 for Egg Tart in the Neds Fat Odds market in this race.

Harper’s Choice is yet to show his best form through two starts this time, but he’ll relish a rise in trip at Rosehill this afternoon and will carry plenty of benefit into the race. The son of Street Cry has produced a number of outstanding performances amongst good black type company throughout his entire racing career and I like that trainer Gerald Ryan has elected to trial the horse in the lead-up to this race. He is over the odds at double-figure odds (at the time of publish).
