Tactical Formation has returned to racing in smart form this time and is primed for a return to the winner’s stall at Gosford this afternoon. The son of Mossman weakened late before finishing third over 1200m at Kembla Grange first-up, before running into quality galloper Blazeray at Hawkesbury last time and finishing second. There’s no horse of that calibre in this field and I like that trainer Gerald Ryan has elected to trial the horse in the lead-up to this race.
Elitizaam has finished second in two of his three starts this time in and will be tough to hold out at Pakenham this afternoon. The Redoute’s Choice colt has shown decent ability during his short racing tenure to date without finding winning form, but he’s drawn ideally this afternoon with in-form hoop Michael Walker in the saddle and $4.30 (at the time of publish) looks like a nice price.
Seine Net has been racing extremely well this time in and finds herself in a very winnable race at Gosford this afternoon. The three-year-old hit the line well for second at Newcastle first-up before consecutive third-place finishes at Wyong and Kembla Grange respectively. She’s drawn ideally in barrier 4 and with Brenton Avdulla in the saddle, she won’t be faced with a better opportunity to return to winning form.

Diamond Star Halo is rock-hard fit ahead of her fourth campaign appearance this afternoon and she looks over the odds at her current double-figure quote. The daughter of High Chaparral has continued to improve this time in and battled to the line fairly to finish second over 2000m last time out. A step up in trip should be ideal for the filly and she has plenty of options from the rails draw.
