Formula One Driver’s Champion Lewis Hamilton will enter the Spanish Grand Prix with a renewed sense of confidence after picking up his first win of the season in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
After four races into the season we have seen Ferrari triumph twice and two races split between Red Bull and Mercedes.
Hamilton ($2.60) will be searching for back-to-back wins and has enjoyed his time at the Barcelona circuit. If Hamilton can pull off a win this weekend he will join the select group of drivers with three wins at the Spanish GP. Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher holds the record with six wins at the Spanish event.
Hamilton has won pole in Barcelona from 2014 to 2017 but will face strong competition from Ferrari rival Sebastian Vettel ($2.60). The Ferrari man has never been on pole position in Barcelona but has been in outstanding form at the start of the season.
Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen ($10) and Daniel Ricciardo ($10) will be wanting to put the controversy of their last race firmly in the rear-view mirror with a podium finish at Catalunya. Ricciardo is off contract at the end of the season and speculation remains that the Aussie driver could be lured to Ferrari or Mercedes for the 2019 season and beyond.
Kimi Raikkonen ($12) has finished on the podium six times in his last eight races and remains a threat and Valtteri Bottas ($10) has beaten Lewis Hamilton in qualifying in four of his last six races.
The Barcelona race has been a fixture on the Formula One calendar since 1991 and majority of the teams in the paddock use the Barcelona track for preseason testing.
After copping plenty of criticism for a lacklustre start to the season Lewis Hamilton will be desperate to make it back to back victories in Spain.
While his main competition for the top place on the podium will come from Sebastian Vettel don’t be surprised to see one of the Red Bull drivers pull off a major upset in the battle for supremacy between Mercedes and Ferrari.
