2018 Monaco F1 Grand Prix Preview

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton ($5) will be out to extend his lead in the Formula One Championship in the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend.

Ferrari dominated the early rounds of the season, but Mercedes are now leading the Constructors Championship after a couple of winning results of their own.

Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas ($15) will have a tough assignment replicating their finish at the Spanish Grand Prix, with the Mercedes pair finishing in the top two positions on the podium.

Hamilton will be desperate to be at the top of the podium on Sunday, the Mercedes driver has won twice in Monaco and will be looking to bounce back from his seventh place in the 2017 Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel ($4.00) will be the main threat to stopping Hamilton’s recent dominance over the last two races. After winning the opening two races of the season, the Ferrari maestro has struggled to get on the podium, finishing fourth in his last two races.

Vettel has fond memories of last year’s race, winning from pole position. The street circuit will play to Ferrari’s advantage with the softer tyres, putting Hamilton’s Mercedes at a disadvantage.

Aussie Daniel Ricciardo ($3.25) will be wanting to bounce back from a disappointing fifth place in Spain and will be hoping to emulate his feats from last season’s race.

The Aussie driver drove an outstanding race to finish third on the podium behind the Ferrari pair in the corresponding race last year.

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen ($3.25) will be looking for another strong performance, after a promising finish in Barcelona.  It’s been a tough season for Verstappen who has struggled to make an impact in the early part of the season.

Valtteri Bottas remains a chance of causing an upset in Monaco. The Mercedes driver will be confident of a good performance after finishing second in Spain behind Hamilton.

The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the glamour races of the season and Lewis Hamilton has a real opportunity to put himself in pole position for a tilt at his fifth World Drivers’ Championship.
